Environmental Management System
As an agent, NDB’s business model does not involve manufacturing. Therefore, our operations do not generate air pollution, water pollution, or any hazardous waste. On our journey toward sustainable development, we consistently uphold environmentally friendly principles, strictly comply with environmental regulations, and have established an environmental management policy centered on “energy conservation, carbon reduction, and efficient resource utilization.” We continuously promote and implement various environmental initiatives, striving to achieve sustainable development goals and contribute solid efforts to protecting our planet.
Specific achievements for 2025 are as follows:
Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Information Disclosure
Since 2023, we have conducted annual greenhouse gas inventories in accordance with ISO 14064-1 standards and continuously tracked emission reduction progress. Data on greenhouse gas emissions, electricity consumption, water usage, and total waste volume for the past two years have been publicly disclosed in annual reports, on our company website, and in sustainability reports, demonstrating our commitment to transparent management and sustainable development.
Promoting ISO 14001 Implementation
We continue to encourage NDB Group companies to obtain ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification based on operational needs, actively responding to global sustainability trends. Currently, subsidiary Lipers has obtained ISO 14001 certification (valid from February 20, 2025 to February 19, 2028).
Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction Initiatives
- Strive to implement digital operations to reduce paper consumption; promote double-sided printing for official documents, reuse paper, and prioritize purchasing eco-labeled copy paper.
- Select lighting equipment with energy-saving labels and strengthen electricity management, such as turning off air conditioning and lights in unoccupied meeting rooms and maintaining only essential lighting during lunch breaks.
- Promote water conservation by adjusting toilet faucet flow rates and gradually replacing fixtures with water-saving certified faucets and toilets to enhance water efficiency.
- Implement waste sorting, recycling, and reduction initiatives; reuse incoming shipping cartons, pallets, and protective packing materials for outbound shipments to practice circular economy principles.
- Entrust qualified contractors to properly dispose of industrial waste generated during operations, striving to minimize environmental impact.
Internal Carbon Pricing
Effective 2025, NDB will establish an internal shadow price of NT$300 per metric ton of carbon dioxide emissions, in accordance with the Ministry of the Environment’s Carbon Fee Collection Measures. This shadow price will assist the company in assessing long-term costs and risks, conducting risk management, evaluating potential financial impacts from future carbon emission policy changes, and formulating long-term strategies. This ensures NDB maintains competitiveness amid evolving carbon pricing policies.
